History of TAG Heuer Watches

TAG Heuer was formed in 1985 when TAG (Techniques d'Avant Garde), manufacturers of high-tech items such as ceramic turbochargers for Formula 1 cars, acquired Heuer.

Prior to the merger of TAG and Heuer in 1985, Heuer had been manufacturing watches since it was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer.

In 1999, TAG Heuer accepted a bid from LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) of 1.15 billion francs ($739 million) contingent upon a transfer of 50.1% of stocks.

In 2008 TAG Heuer partnered with CHRONELEC, a European leader in the transponder timing, to push timing technology to a new extreme of precision of sports timing as to bring complete timing designs to tracks and stadiums for most prestigious sports.

Currently TAG Heuer is the fourth luxury watch brand overall, the brand's intense engagement in Formula 1 as the Corporate Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Team McLaren Mercedes, Golf with Tiger Woods, sailing, and skiing, and its new role from 2004 as Official Timekeeper of Indy Racing League and of the legendary Indy 500 race.  TAG Heuer is the driving force behind its commitment to creating the most precise measuring instruments and sports-inspired timepieces ever made.
